Jonathan Good Chase

1941 – 2026

The family of Jonathan G. Chase, KC, of Moncton, New Brunswick, announces with deep sadness his passing at The Moncton Hospital on October 23, 2026.

Born in Saint John in November 1941, he was the son of the late Royden and Elizabeth (Farren) Chase. Jon was the beloved husband and best friend to his wife of 61 years, Barb, and an exemplary father to his daughters, Kelly Chase of Moncton and Lindsay Chase of Toronto.

He leaves behind a legacy of love through his five adored grandchildren: Matthew Jenkins, Kate Molnar (Kevin), Aidan Steeves, Quinn Wheaton (Monica), and Emma Wheaton. He is also survived by his brothers, David Chase (Terry) and Peter Chase (Diane), nieces and nephews, and cherished friends. He is predeceased by his brother Robert.

Following his graduation from UNB Law School, Jon embarked on a distinguished legal career that spanned more than 40 years. Outside of his professional life, he was a passionate outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He will be remembered as a calm, measured, exceptionally kind, and generous man, whose quirky sense of humour brought equal parts smiles and groans. Above all, his greatest joy was time spent with those he loved.

Jon possessed a quiet, private nature. True to his unassuming character, he requested that no fuss be made after his passing. In keeping with his wishes, no formal service will be held. Instead, his family and friends will celebrate a lifetime of memories of a truly decent, hardworking man.

The family is profoundly grateful to Dr. Lior Shirnin, Dr. Alex Jordan, and the medical staff at The Moncton Hospital for their dedicated support, with special thanks to Dr. Amel Fekhar for her extraordinary kindness and compassion.

Arrangements are under the care of Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd, Riverview (506-869-2007). If desired, donations in Jon’s memory to the Alzheimer Society or PAW Moncton (formerly the Greater Moncton SPCA) would be greatly appreciated.
