March 12, 1943 – October 5, 2026
With hearts filled with love and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Elmer Albert Allain, 83, of Moncton, on Monday, October 5, 2026.
Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Alfred and the late Emma Allain, a special son to the late Fidèle and the late Sara Allain and a son to the late Zélie Allain (second wife of Alfred Allain).
He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 57 years, Anna Allain (née Bastarache); his daughters, Christine McSheffery (Dan), Renée Arsenault (Serge), and Julie Kendall (Tim); his grandchildren, Emma, Justin, Valerie, Audrée, Théo, and Reese; his special family: Ella Allain (late Eddie), Jean-Noël Allain (Claudette), Roger Allain (Tina), Laurie Allain (Janice), Lucie LeBlanc (Fernand Caissie), Gloria Bastarache (Raymond), Phyllis Cormier (Victor), and Lisa Allain (Jill Tremblay); as well as several nieces and nephews.
Elmer retired as a Staff Superintendent after more than 31 years of service with the Moncton Police Force. Following his retirement, he also served for six years on the New Brunswick Police Commission.
Elmer enjoyed traveling, going for drives, and gathering family and friends together for meals and special occasions. He was the biggest supporter of all his grandchildren’s activities and rarely missed their hockey games, tournaments, and performances. He could also often be found enjoying a tea or coffee with his friends on Saturday mornings.
He also had a very special connection with the Moncton Wildcats. He volunteered during training camps and followed the team passionately throughout the season.
In addition to his parents, Elmer was predeceased by his brothers Théophile, Eddie, Joseph, and Omer; his sisters Laura, Marie, and Thérèse; several siblings who passed away in infancy; as well as his niece Josée.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Hall-Losier, Dr. Daigle-Sippley, and the staff and volunteers of Maison Albert House for the exceptional care and deep compassion they provided to Elmer during his final days.
A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 11:00 am in the chapel of Fergusons Funeral Home & Fergusons Crematorium, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton, NB (506-858-1995). A reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Maison Albert House would be greatly appreciated. www.fergusonsfuneralhome.com
