Riverview councillor apologizes for social media post

A letter of public apology has now been issued after a Riverview councillor breached the town’s code of conduct.

Members of the previous town council filed a complaint about a post on Cecile Cassista’s social media on March 8.

The complaint stated the comments were disrespectful, defamatory and insulting.

Cassista’s letter of apology was presented as part of the Riverview Town Council agenda on Monday night.

It states that her post was never meant to target individuals, and she apologized that her post was misinterpreted.

Mayor Andrew Leblanc stated during the meeting that social media training would be conducted later this week.
