Craig Fenton

December 20, 1961  –  September 9, 2026

It is with sadness the family of Craig Fenton announce his peaceful passing at The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Clement and Ardith (nee Teahan) Fenton.

Craig was a lifelong learner in every sense of the word. He had an endless curiosity about the world and believed deeply in the importance of continuing to learn, no matter your age or where life took you. His love of reading was a natural extension of that curiosity, and he almost always had a book on the go, whether he was eager to discover something new or simply lose himself in a good story.

That same curiosity and commitment carried into his professional life. Craig dedicated 31 years of his life to a career in public service with Shared Services Canada at the Government of Canada Pension Centre in Shediac. It was a long and meaningful chapter of his life, and one that reflected his strong sense of loyalty, responsibility, and commitment to both the work he did and the people he worked alongside.

That care for others extended well beyond his career. Craig had a kind and generous heart and was always willing to listen. He was an open ear to those around him, and when someone did come to him for help, he would always do what he could. He had a quiet way of being there for people without making a great deal of it. That kindness was reflected in the relationships he built throughout his life, with family, longtime friends, and those who came into his life along the way.

Craig also had a love of adventure and enjoyed getting out and experiencing the world around him. Over the years, he shared many hiking trips with friends, enjoying the outdoors, the challenge, and the memories that came with each adventure. Golf was also a big part of his life for many years, and he spent countless evenings out on the course, enjoying both the game and the company that came with it.

Those who knew Craig will remember his wonderful sense of humour. He loved to joke, tease, and make people laugh, and that part of him remained with him throughout his life. Even during his final days, he was still cracking jokes and finding moments of humour. His ability to laugh, and to make others laugh with him, was one of the many things that made him so memorable to the people who knew and loved him.

Most importantly, Craig was a deeply loving and devoted father. He took great pride in his daughter, Meaghan, and throughout her life gave her an immeasurable amount of guidance, advice, encouragement, care, and love. The lessons he taught, both through his words and through the way he viewed life, will continue to be carried forward. His love and influence will remain a lasting part of her life, and the bond they shared will never be forgotten.

Craig will be deeply missed by his daughter, Meaghan, and her partner Casson Smith; his former wife, Lisa Durelle; siblings, Paul Fenton, Kathy LeBlanc (Donnie); nieces, Katie, Lindsay and Gillian; nephew, Matthew; as well as his seven great nephews and extended family members, and many cherished friends.

In addition to his parents, Craig was predeceased by his beloved dogs, Kelsey, Browney, and Molly, each of whom held a very special place in his heart.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at The Moncton Hospital for the kindness and compassion shown to Craig during his time there. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Thomas Frennette, Dr Lisa Searle and the Palliative Care Team for the exceptional care, dignity, and support they provided to Craig and his family during his final days.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Craig’s Life on Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm from Fergusons Funeral Home Reception Centre, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (506-858-1995). Interment will take place in Holy Ghost Cemetery, Hopewell Hill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation or the IWK Health Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Craig will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
