Re-Establishing Routine Important Before Students Head Back To Class

Classes will resume in less than two weeks, and it’s time to start looking at getting back into routine.

Director of Schools with Anglophone East School District Pamela Wilson says it’s important that kids get their proper rest, “A big change for families and transitioning from summer to back to school will be be the morning routine of getting up earlier. Starting this ahead of time will certainly help students to adjust which probably means a switch to an earlier bedtime, depending on how much your routines have changed during the summer. It does certainly help ahead of time to gradually get back into them. It will also be an adjustment for everyone the first few weeks back as well.”

Depending on a child’s age, they will require between 10 to 12 hours of rest, in order to function well at school.

Wilson adds, for students entering Kindergarten, “Parents should consider helping their child do things on their own. Having them build their own independence can help the transition into school go smoothly.”

Students will return to class on September 5th.
