The largest grassroots amateur golf program in Canada is coming to southeast New Brunswick.
It’s called the PGA Scramble and the Memramcook Valley Golf Club and Moncton’s Mountain Woods Golf Club are hosting qualifiers next month.
In its 11th year, the event brings together teams of four at clubs all over Canada to play for a shot at a national title.
Teams of four compete in the qualifiers, with winners advancing to one of 13 regional finals later in the summer.
From there, winners get the chance to play in the national championship. This year, the final will be held at Cabot Links in Inverness, N.S.
Along with the regional winners, there will be two guaranteed spots at the national final for all-female teams.
Events are open to teams of four eligible amateur golfers with up-to-date Golf Canada handicaps who are 19 or older.
The event has been growing over the years. Last year, more than 12,000 golfers participated across Canada.
Registration deadlines and team capacities are as follows:
- Memramcook Valley Golf Club – tournament: July 5. Registration closes June 26, maximum 30 teams.
- Mountain Woods Golf Club – tournament: July 25. Registration closes July 15, maximum 30 teams.
