Paul Richard elected Moncton’s Deputy Mayor

Moncton City Council has named its newest Deputy Mayor.

A new council was elected on May 11 and met for the first time on Monday night.

Councillor Bryan Butler was the only one to put a name forward and nominated Paul Richard for the role of Deputy Mayor.

In a vote of Councillors, Richard received unanimous approval and will serve in the position for a term of one year.

“Thank you, members of council for your confidence and support. I’m honoured to serve as deputy mayor, and I look forward to supporting the mayor, my colleagues, city staff, and the residents of Moncton. In this role, I will do my best to serve with the same commitment, respect, and dedication that I bring to my role as ward 4 councillor,” Richard expressed to council members around the horseshoe on Monday night.

This is Richard’s second term as a councillor and the first time as Deputy Mayor.
