Madelene Rose Lanctin

July 25, 1930  –  June 6, 2026

Kindness starts in the mind and flows through the heart.

It is with thankfulness for a long and well lived life and heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of their dear mother, Madelene Lanctin (Allen), at the age of 95.

Madelene was born in Murray Corner, NB July 1930, to the late Snowball and Rose (Thompson) Allen. She later moved to Moncton where she met her husband of more than 50 years, the late Georges Lanctin. The family grew to 3 children, 5 grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great, Great Granddaughter to make 5 generations.

She is survived by daughters Jacqueline McKinley, her husband John, of Quispamsis; Beverley Dunstan, her husband Steve, of Moncton and son Eric Lanctin, his wife Tara, of Moncton. Grandchildren Amanda Steeves, her husband Bruce, of Lloydminster; Melissa McKinley of Fredericton; Alicia Knock, her husband Christopher, of Regina; Nicholas Dunstan, his wife Brianna, of Lloydminster and Justin Lanctin of Moncton. Great Grandchildren, Parker, his wife Emma; Brayden, his wife Emma, Lydia, Elizabeth, Jackson, Abigayle, Xavier, Alex, Jackson, Chase, and 1 Great-Great Granddaughter, Maeve.

In addition to her parents and husband, Madelene was predeceased by brothers Darrel, Calvin, Donald, and Alex. Brothers-in-law Edward Hammersely, Rev Henri Lanctin, Yvone Lanctin, Raymond Lanctin and Rev Eugene Lanctin. Sisters-in-Law Marcia Lanctin and Jean Lanctin.

Besides her children and their family ‘s she is survived by her brother Richard Allen his partner Sandra, sisters Margaret Hammersley and Sharon Parsons, her husband Myles. Sisters-in-Law Myrtle Allen, Florence Allen, Marilyn Lanctin and Micheline Lanctin. Many cousins, neices, nephews and friends.

Madelene retired from T. Eatons Co Ltd after 40 years service. She is a member of Highfield St Baptist Church where over the years she was involved in various ministries. After retirement she was a volunteer at Spencer Memorial Home and the Soup Kitchen. She was also a member of Stepping Out 50 and other senior groups. Mom’s greatest love was her family but she also cherished her many friends. She embraced and loved her Havenwood Family and valued their friendship and support over the last 3 years.

Madelene’s family wish to extend their greatest gratitude to the staff and friends at Havenwood Seniors Home for the care and friendship over the last 3 years. Also, to the many friends and family that visited and called her so faithfully, they were highlights of her day. A special thank you to Dr. Karlyne Dufour who provided mom exceptional and heartfelt care for over 25 years and to the Blanche Bourgeois Extra-Mural nurses for their warm and caring support.

Acts of Kindness were a way of life for Mom and Dad and always present in our home. In memory of Mom, we encourage you to always “Be Grateful and Kind”.

A Funeral Service will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road Moncton, NB (506-858-1995) on Saturday, June 13th 2026. Visitation will be from 10:00am -11:00 am with the funeral following immediately after, at 11:00 am. A reception will follow in the Reception Centre.
