Every year, BGC Clubs from coast to coast come together to celebrate something truly special, BGC Club Day. This national day of awareness shines a spotlight on the incredible impact BGC Clubs have on the lives of children, youth, and families in communities across Canada. Club Day this year is June 5th.
More Than a Club
For more than 125 years, BGC Clubs have been creating opportunities for millions of Canadian children and youth. What began in Saint John, New Brunswick in 1900 has grown into Canada’s largest dedicated child and youth-serving organization, supporting more than 160,000 young people through over 600 Clubs and service locations nationwide.
BGC Clubs provide safe, supportive spaces where children and youth can build friendships, develop confidence, learn new skills, and experience opportunities that help them thrive. From after-school programming and leadership development to healthy living initiatives, recreation, education support, and mental wellness programs, BGC Clubs are helping young people succeed every day.
A Day to Celebrate Impact
BGC Club Day is more than a celebration—it is an opportunity to raise awareness about the positive difference Clubs make in communities across Canada. Each year, Clubs host community events, barbecues, carnivals, games, open houses, flag raisings, and special activities that bring people together to celebrate youth success.
The movement continues to grow each year. In 2025 alone, communities across Canada participated in 16 flag raisings, four official proclamations, and 42 landmarks illuminated in BGC green to recognize the day.

At the heart of BGC Club Day is a simple but powerful message: Opportunity Changes Everything. Every child deserves a safe place where they belong, caring mentors who believe in them, and opportunities to discover their strengths and pursue their dreams. BGC Clubs help make that possible every day.
Whether it’s a young person finding their voice through leadership programming, gaining confidence through recreation, receiving support during difficult times, or building lifelong friendships, the impact of a Club extends far beyond its walls. The experiences and connections formed at BGC Clubs often shape lives for years to come.
