A LIFE WELL LIVED:

Remembering Dr. David Dodge

There are some people who leave such a profound mark on the world that even after they are gone, their influence continues to ripple through the lives of everyone they touched.

Dr. David Dodge was one of those people.

Last June, our community lost Dave after a courageous two-year battle with Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

While his passing left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, friends, colleagues, patients, and countless others, his legacy continues to inspire us every day.

Dave was many things.

He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a cherished brother, and a loyal friend.

He was also an exceptional physician whose compassion extended far beyond the walls of an operating room.

He cared deeply about his patients and their families, taking the time to listen, guide, support, and comfort during some of life’s most difficult moments.

His impact stretched throughout the Moncton community.

Dave believed strongly in mentoring and teaching the next generation of healthcare professionals.

He shared his knowledge generously, encouraging colleagues to grow, learn, and become the very best versions of themselves.

He understood that leadership was not about titles or recognition.

It was about lifting others up.

Outside of medicine, Dave was equally passionate about giving back.

He coached young athletes, volunteered his time, and supported causes that mattered deeply to him.

Long before cancer became part of his own story, he was riding his bicycle to raise money for cancer research and support programs.

That commitment to helping others never wavered.

When faced with his diagnosis, Dave approached the challenge with the same strength, determination, and grace that defined every aspect of his life.

He fought hard. He remained hopeful.

He continued to inspire those around him with his courage and resilience.

Even during the most difficult days, he showed us what it means to keep moving forward.

There are many lessons we can learn from Dave’s life.

He reminded us:

💙That kindness matters.

🩶That mentoring others creates a lasting legacy.

🧡That serving our communities enriches all of us.

🩶That family and friendships are treasures to be nurtured.

💙That courage is not the absence of fear, but the decision to keep going despite it.

For me personally, Dave was a hero.

His example challenged me to be better, give more, and appreciate each day.

I think of him often, and he will forever hold a special place in my heart.

As we approach the anniversary of his passing, I invite you to help honour his memory by joining us at the Moncton Brain Tumour Walk

The walk will take place
