Gérard Bourgeois

1935 ~ 2026

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved father Gérard Bourgeois on May 4, 2026, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, at the age of 91.

Born in Fox Creek, NB, he was the son of the late Emery Bourgeois and the late Elisabeth (Goguen) Bourgeois.

Prior to retirement, he worked as an automotive mechanic at a well-known garage in Moncton (Melanson’s Auto Electric) for 20 years. He later purchased the garage and operated it for 21 years. During his retirement, he spent quality time travelling the world with his loving wife Norma. He cherished time spent with his two grandchildren, Luc and Annie, whom he adored, and spending time with his family was very important to him.  He also loved taking nature walks and bowling. He was a member of the Saint-Anselme Parish and did volunteer work for the Church.

Gérard is survived by his daughter Lise (René) of Dieppe; his son Claude (Fiona) of Shediac Cape; his grandson Luc (Emilie) of Dieppe; his granddaughter Annie (Kader) of Dieppe; his great grandson Kilian; his special friend Noëlla Bourgeois-Bouchard of Dieppe; his sister Jeannine Richard (Raymond) of Moncton; his brothers Ronald Bourgeois (Lorraine) of Dieppe; Léonard Bourgeois (late Louise) of Dieppe; Omer Bourgeois (Léona) of Dieppe; his sister-in-law Dolores D’Nelly (late Gregg) of California; his brother-in-law Eugène (late Jacqueline) of Moncton, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife Norma (LeBlanc) Bourgeois (2016); his sister Emma Bourgeois; two young brothers Clarence and Laurie as well as his father-in-law Camille LeBlanc, his mother-in-law Léonie LeBlanc, his sister-in-law Berthe Cormier and brother-in-law Philippe Cormier.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jules Cormier, Dr. Guy Breault, Dr. Thaïs Megid and Dr. Linda LeBlanc, as well as the nurses and staff at the CHU Dumont Oncology Centre and l’Unité de médecine familiale for their encouraging words, support and empathy.
