Gas prices on the way up in New Brunswick

More expensive fill-ups are on the horizon for New Brunswickers.

An industry source says the maximum prices for regular self-serve gas and diesel are both jumping about six cents this week.

A 6.2-cent increase will take regular gas to a maximum of about $1.78 per litre.

Diesel, just a day after a more than eight-cent increase, will hit a maximum of just over $2.25.

In Nova Scotia, maximum regular self-serve prices range from about $1.69 to $1.71 per litre while diesel is selling for between $2.09 and $2.11 per litre.

On Prince Edward Island, the maximum prices are $1.76 a litre for regular self-serve, more than $2.16 per litre for diesel and about $1.62 per litre for home heating oil.

The New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board adjusts prices every Friday at 12:01 a.m.
