1953-2026
Dieppe, NB — It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Bourgeois, 72 years young, who began his final “out of this world” cycling journey at 6:32 a.m. on April 19, 2026.
Brian was an introvert by nature, happiest when spending hours tinkering and figuring out how things worked—earning him the affectionate nickname “MacGyver.” His curiosity began early; as a teenager, he purchased his first bicycle and immediately took it apart and rebuild it, simply to understand every component. That passion for learning led him to graduate from DeVry Institute of Technology in Toronto, Ontario, in 1976, launching a successful career in technology.
At the age of 57, Brian retired to fully embrace the things he loved most: cycling, skiing, and salmon fishing. These passions, along with his love of travel, became the foundation of countless cherished adventures shared with his family. He created lasting memories with his beloved wife of 51 years, Dyane (Malenfant), and their sons, Danyel (Joanna) of Kimberley, BC, and Denny (Melissa) of Kelowna, BC. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Nora and Bowie.
Brian was predeceased by his father, Gerald Bourgeois of Saint-Anselme. He is survived by his mother, Colleen Sonier (Reg) of Amherst, NS; his brothers, Terry (Paula) of Port Williams, NS, and Paul (Eydie) of Creston, BC; his sister, Linda of Moncton; his uncle, Ron (Ronald) Taylor of Hawaii; as well as many special cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In keeping with Brian’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Brian’s dedicated and compassionate care teams, as well as to the many family members and friends whose unwavering support helped him through his most challenging journey.
