Messy conditions after snow, freezing rain, and ice pellets in N.B.

You’ll probably have some scraping to do if you’re heading to work.

A night of freezing rain and ice pellets has left many vehicles encased in ice for Thursday morning.

You should take care while stepping onto your driveways and walkways, because they’re also very slippery.

Environment Canada issued new yellow freezing rain alerts for New Brunswick’s southeastern, central and western regions at 7:20 am Thursday.

The special weather statements and freezing rain warnings were lifted this morning.

The roads are slushy and ice-covered with temperatures hovering at around zero this morning.

Temperatures are expected to continue rising throughout the day, but will dip down tonight, which could result in freezing.

Anglophone East and Francophone South schools, except Saint John and Quispamsis, are closed today due to the road conditions.

As for New Brunswickers to the north, yellow level alerts for winter storms have been lifted, but now they are under freezing rain warnings

This latest weather system battered those areas overnight with a mix of heavy snow, freezing rain, ice pellets and rain.

They will have some digging to do, given the anticipated 15 to 25 centimetres of snow.
