It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Francine “mim” Chiasson Gautreau, 80, after a long battle with cancer surrounded by her family, on Thursday, February 26th, 2026, at the Albert House Hospice in Moncton.
Born in Lakeburn, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and the late Maria Chiasson (Bourque).
Francine will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Gérald; her children: Dave (Brenda), Mike (Lisa), France (Gilles), and Martin (Ashley); her sisters: Gloria (Allan), Cécile (Paul), and Marcia (Eugene); her grandchildren: Amanda, Terry, Stephanie, Sylvie, Pearl, Véronique, Cypress, and Alex; her great grandchildren: Tyshon, Maxime, Sadie, Ezra, Landon, Kairi, Hailey, Oakes, and Jaxx; her sister-in-law, Marie; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Paul; her sister, Denise (late Norbert); as well as an infant sister, Marcia.
Francine worked for the Montreal Expos and later at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre until her retirement in 2000, when she devoted herself to caring for her beloved grandchildren, whom she adored, cherishing every moment. She loved her family, had a sweet tooth for chocolate and found simple joy in watching the Toronto Blue Jays play, enthusiastically following their games and celebrating their victories with her husband.
In respect to the families wishes, there will be no visitations. A celebration of her life will be held at Passage ~ Chartersville (363 Amirault Street, Dieppe) on Monday, March 9th, 2026, at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Francine’s memory can be made to the Albert House Hospice or to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
