Moncton man arrested after online crime report to RCMP

An arrest in Moncton after a theft was reported to police online.

On June 21, a man used the New Brunswick RCMP’s Online Crime Reporting platform to report that items were stolen from his vehicle.

On July 5, RCMP were contacted by the same man, who had found a listing on Marketplace for his watch, one of the items stolen.

A 46-year-old man was arrested three days later, and the watch was recovered.

The man will appear in court in October.

Online Crime Reporting gives New Brunswickers an alternate way to report certain non-emergency crimes without calling the police or visiting a detachment.

All reports submitted via Online Crime Reporting are reviewed by the RCMP and are entered into the RCMP’s record management system.
