Fredericton man faces numerous child porn related charges

A child porn investigation has led to charges against a Fredericton man.

The investigation began in July 2024 and led to the search of a home in February this year.

Members of the New Brunswick RCMP ICE Unit, members of the Fredericton Police Force, and the RCMP’s Digital Forensic Services seized several electronic devices and a 36-year-old man was arrested.

He appeared in court on July 3, and was charged with possession of child pornography, transmission of child pornography, luring a child he believed to be under the age of eighteen to commit an offence, luring a child he believed to be under the age of sixteen to commit an offence, and fail to comply with his undertaking.

His next court appearance is on July 24.

Throughout the investigation, information was received from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, Criminal Investigations Division, and the Criminal Investigations Unit/Sex Crimes Unit.

The initial investigation was led by the New Brunswick RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit and was launched after information was received from the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Crime Centre.
