New deputy mayor for Riverview

Riverview Town Council has elected a new deputy mayor.

Ward 3 Councillor Jeremy Thorne was named to the role at Monday night’s town council meeting.

Thorne replaces Councillor Stephen Gouzoules, who has held the deputy mayor title for the past year.

Thorne will serve in the position until May of 2026.

The deputy mayor chairs meetings or attends public meetings if the mayor is unavailable.

A new deputy mayor is elected each year.
