N.B. reaches tentative deal with school district employees

Hundreds of school bus drivers, maintenance workers and custodians have a tentative agreement.

The New Brunswick government announced a deal with CUPE Local 1253 on Friday.

The union represents around 3,300 staff working in the province’s seven school districts.

“Both negotiating teams have worked diligently to reach this point, and I appreciate their commitment,” Finance Minister René Legacy said in a statement.

“We are pleased to have reached this tentative agreement, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration with the union.”

The parties have agreed to withhold details until the agreement is ratified.
