Eye care clinic offered at Peter McKee Community Food Centre

The Peter McKee Community Food Centre does more than just help to put meals on tables.

It also offers several other beneficial clinics for those in need, including an eye care clinic.

“Our full-service Eye Care Clinic provides free eye exams and glasses to clients who qualify, who do not have eye care health coverage,” says Community Engagement Coordinator Donna Eagles.

She adds that the program has helped several of their clients avoid blindness.

“It’s the only eye care clinic that you will find in a food bank across Canada. It offers glasses and eye care products to the clients who are over the age of 18 and who do not have eye care coverage,” Eagles adds.

The Centre is now outreaching to other organizations to allow their clients access to the services as well.

Eagles adds they are now also outreaching to other agencies, offering services to their clients as well.
