Moncton Wildcats win Gilles-Courteau Trophy

The Moncton Wildcats are the 2025 QMJHL champions and have clinched the Gilles-Courteau Trophy.

The Wildcats downed the host Rimouski Océanic 3-2 in game six of the QMJHL final on Monday afternoon.

Gabe Smith picked up two goals for the Wildcats while Loke Johansson had a goal and an assist.

It is the third QMJHL title for the Moncton Wildcats and the first since the 2009-10 season.

Caleb Desnoyers received the 2025 Guy Lafleur trophy as the playoff MVP with 30 points in 19 games.

Both teams will advance to the Memorial Cup, which is being hosted this year by Rimouski.

Moncton plays London on Saturday night, followed by Medicine Hat on May 26 and Rimouski on May 28.

The semifinal match is on May 30 followed by the Memorial Cup final on June 1.
