A major construction project along a roughly one-kilometre stretch of Moncton’s Main Street begins this week.
Work will be taking place in phases between Mechanic Street and the Moncton-Dieppe city limit over four months.
Starting Tuesday, localized work will see nighttime lane reductions and temporary closures and detours.
Main Street will be closed from Wheeler Boulevard to Chateau Moncton from 7 p.m. Tuesday until 7 a.m. Wednesday. Both intersections will remain accessible during the closure.
In addition, the Riverfront Trail will be closed from the Settlers Landing to the Running Room until around June 30 to install storm sewer outfall at the Petitcodiac River.

From May 5 to 15, there will be lane reductions from Mechanic Street to King Street, and from the Chateau Moncton traffic signals to the Dieppe city limits for milling and paving work.
Storm sewer pipes will be installed from Chateau Moncton to King Street between May 15 and July 11, with lane reductions in place.
From July 11 to Aug. 4, work will be focused on the intersection of Main Street and King Street. The intersection will be closed for several days, followed by lane reductions.
The finale phase of work, from Aug. 4 to 20, will see lane reductions between King Street to the Chateau Moncton traffic signals for milling and paving work.
City officials said the tentative schedule is subject to change, adding that announcements will be issued in advance of each new phase of work.
