Fire in detached garage in Upper Coverdale

No word yet on the cause of a fire that extensively damaged a detached garage in Upper Coverdale.

Riverview Fire and Rescue managed to contain the flames in the one-story, two-bay garage before the fire spread to a nearby home. The siding on the residence was damaged.

The fire was reported at around 3:45 on Wednesday afternoon.

Two men who were working in the garage managed to get out safely before firefighters arrived.

Seventeen firefighters and one Chief Officer from Riverview Fire & Rescue helped to fight the fire.

Mutual Aid assistance was provided by Moncton Fire and Salisbury Fire.

Firefighters were on the scene for around 2 and a half hours.
