Spring weight restrictions begin March 10

Here is a sure sign that the wrath of winter may soon be behind us.

Spring weight restrictions for truck traffic will start to take effect next week.

They begin at 12:01 a.m. Monday in southern New Brunswick and one week later in the north.

“Weight limits are implemented every spring in order to protect our road infrastructure from damage during the annual frost-and-thaw cycle,” Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Chuck Chiasson said in a news release.

Restrictions are currently set to run until May 11 in the south and May 18 in the north, but those dates could change depending on the weather.
