A man was sent to the hospital with serious injuries after an alleged assault in Fredericton.

Police said officers received a 911 call from the city’s north side around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

They arrived on the scene to find a 58-year-old man suffering from serious injuries.

He was rushed to the hospital and later released in stable condition, according to police.

Two men from Lower Durham, aged 44 and 21, were arrested by police the following day.

They remain in custody and are due in court this week to face charges of aggravated assault.

Police said this was an isolated incident and everyone involved was known to one another.
