Nova Scotia and PEI responding following imposition of U.S. tariffs

Both Nova Scotia and PEI plan to remove US-based products from liquor stores.

PEI Premier Dennis King says they will be gone by Tuesday.

American wines, beers and spirits will also be removed from the catalogue of products offered by the Liquor Control Commission which means restaurants and agency stores can’t reorder or restock them.

King adds, that his province will also be limiting procurement with US-based companies and cancelling existing contracts.

Nova Scotia’s Premier Tim Houston is taking similar steps and restricting business deals with American companies.

This comes after United States President Donald Trump imposed 25 per cent tariffs on Canada’s imports into the U.S., and a 10 per cent levy on energy to start on February 4.
