Ontario man charged in Moncton drug trafficking investigation

A 22-year-old York, Ontario, man is facing several drug trafficking charges after an investigation in Moncton.

On January 23, members of the Codiac Regional RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit and Moncton’s Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU) searched a residence on Ash Street, in Moncton.

Officers seized a quantity of what is believed to be cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl and oxycodone.

A loaded handgun, prohibited weapon, ammunition, drug trafficking paraphernalia and cash were also seized.

A man was arrested and appeared in court on January 28, where he was charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking crystal methamphetamine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking oxycodone
  • Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition without a license or registration
  • Careless storage of a firearm.

He is being held in custody and will return to Moncton Provincial Court on January 31, 2025, for a bail hearing.

An 18-year-old woman was also arrested during the investigation but was later released.
