Renovations have begun at Bannon House, a new facility dedicated to supporting those living with cancer.
The Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation says the project aims to provide a comprehensive resource hub for cancer patients.
Jacqueline Bloom, manager of cancer support, said the demolition phase is complete, and they are now preparing for the second phase of construction.
“We anticipate starting phase two in mid to late February, depending on weather and contractor availability,” she said.

The project is expected to be completed by mid-summer.
The fundraising campaign this year for the Bannon House has already reached over 50 per cent of its $1 million goal.
Bloom mentioned The Friends Foundation has partnered with the Georges Dumont Foundation to host the annual Ride Against Cancer this summer.
All funds raised will support the cancer support program and the Wellspring program.
“This partnership between two foundations is unique and vital for providing free programs to everyone in our community,” she said.
The renovated Bannon House will offer a variety of facilities to support cancer patients.
Bloom said the house will feature private rooms for counselling and Reiki therapy, as well as a large commercial kitchen to teach nutritious meal preparation.
She emphasized the importance of community support to ensure no one faces cancer alone.
“With the community’s help, we can provide the necessary support and resources to those in need,” Bloom said.
