Premier Susan Holt starts term with 54% approval rating

New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt is starting her first term with a 54 per cent approval rating.

That is according to a quarterly survey from the Angus Reid Institute, which shows the Liberal premier is the third most popular.

Holt and her party won a majority government after securing 31 of 49 seats in the legislature during the Oct. 21 election.

Her predecessor, Progressive Conservative Blaine Higgs, had long languished at or near the bottom of the premier approval rankings.

Meanwhile, Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew continues to lead the premier approval ratings at 67 per cent.

Newly-reelected Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston is in second with 55 per cent support. That is up from 41 per cent ahead of the November election.

The Angus Reid Institute conducted an online survey from Nov. 29 to Dec. 5 among 4,004 Canadian adults.
