Shediac man charged after break-in, mischief and threats

A Shediac man is facing charges following a break-in, mischief and threats in the community.

Police say a Main Street business was significantly damaged during a break-in around 5 a.m. Monday.

Shortly after, officers responded to an assault at a home in the Bellevue Heights neighbourhood.

Upon arrival, the suspect was identified as a 42-year-old man, police said in a news release.

The suspect was reported to still be in the area after crashing his all-terrain vehicle into a residential garage.

He was later located in a residence on Luc Street and taken into custody without incident, said RCMP.

Police said they used video surveillance to confirm it was the same man who had broken into the business.

The man has been charged with uttering threats against a person, uttering threats to property, flight from a peace officer, break and enter and mischief over $5,000.

The accused remains in custody and has a bail hearing set for Dec. 13.
