Shediac Town Council adopts 2025 budget

A reduction in the base tax rate by 1.5 cents to $1.43 from Shediac town council.

It unanimously adopted its $25.3-million operating budget this week.

Water service remains stable for 2025 at $365 per unit annually.

Several projects are planned including phase 2 of the Breaux Bridge Street extension project, an extension of the town’s new main artery to Ohio Road and continued work on a new fire station.

Following the province’s local governance reform in 2023, the town conducted a thorough assessment of the level of shared services between the new territories and the former Town of Shediac.

The result was a scenario that represents the exact share of services offered to the new wards in Shediac, specifically the former local service districts of Pointe-du-Chêne, Shediac Cape, Scoudouc and Scoudouc Road.

Following the adjustment plan put forward by the province, a slight increase of five cents will be added to the tax rate for the year 2025 for these territories.
