Man with knives facing threats charges in Pabineau First Nation

A 38-year-old man is facing charges for uttering threats in Pabineau First Nation.

RCMP say it was Wednesday around 4 p.m. when they received a report that someone in possession of knives was uttering threats on Pabineau Falls Road.

When officers got to the scene they found someone barricaded inside, brandishing knives.

Police then blocked off the home, but it was determined an emergency alert was not needed.

The suspect was arrested just after midnight, Thursday, and taken to hospital to be assessed.

The man was in court, Thursday and sent for a 5-day psychiatric assessment.

He is scheduled to return to court, January 22.
