Canadian Blood Services says it needs more people to book blood and plasma appointments as the holidays approach.
The organization said donations often fall in the final two weeks of December as Canadians focus on year‑end plans and statutory holidays.
Canadian Blood Services explained that many people do not realize donor centres stay open through the holidays while patients continue to rely on blood and plasma every day.
The agency said giving as a group can be especially meaningful at this time of year, noting that many first‑time donors come in with someone they know.
They add that donating with colleagues, teammates, friends or family can turn a holiday outing into something memorable and help support patients who depend on the national blood supply.
The Moncton Donor Centre at 500 Mapleton Road is scheduled to be open December 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., December 31 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and January 1 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Canadian Blood Services said donors often leave with a strong sense of purpose, knowing they have helped patients in Canada.
The agency described a year‑end donation as a meaningful gift to both the community and the donor.
