Power outage closes some N.B. schools

Two schools in Anglophone South are closing early on Friday due to power outages.

Emails were sent home to parents and students at around noon to say Apohaqui Elementary School and Sussex Elementary School would be closing.

Anglophone East School District also closed Petitcodiac Regional School at 1 pm because of no power.

Thousands in the Sussex and Salisbury areas have already been left in the dark due to high winds. At around noon on Friday, NB Power was reporting around 7000 customers without electricity. Crews are working

Wind warnings and rainfall warnings are in effect for regions in southern, south-central and southeast New Brunswick.

Winds gusts of up to 110 kilometres an hour are anticipated.
