Moncton expands HotSpot parking services

The City of Moncton is expanding its paid parking system through HotSpot, an online service designed to modernize public parking and improve convenience for users.

City officials explained that the expansion will take place in phases to ensure a smooth transition.

The first phase begins December 15 with the removal of parking gates at the Moncton Place parking lot, located next to City Hall at 655 Main Street, and at the Alma Street parking garage.

Visitors will be able to pay for parking by scanning a QR code or entering the zone number posted on nearby signs directly in the HotSpot app or online.

They will then enter their licence plate, select the length of their stay and complete payment.

Monthly pass holders have already registered their licence plates with the City’s By-Law Department, allowing them to enter and park without scanning.

“This expansion of HotSpot is about making parking more convenient and flexible for our residents and visitors,” Conrad Landry, Moncton’s Director of Community Safety said in a release.

“Through HotSpot, users can manage their parking easier by monitoring how much time they have left in their parking spot directly on their phone and adding time when needed.”

The City said the next phase of the rollout will remove all on-street parking meters, a change expected in 2026.
