The two most desirable rental markets in Canada are in the Maritimes.
RentCafe.com released a report on the national rental market in Q3 2025, and Moncton and Halifax came in first and second, respectively.
RentCafe’s analysis looks at four key indicators from Canadian properties listed on its website to rank cities attracting the most interest, including available listings, listing views, apartments saved as favourites and saved personalized searches.
Moncton claimed the top spot, overtaking Winnipeg. According to the analysis, page views were up 58 per cent and availability fell 53 per cent.
RentCafe’s report said the results confirmed Moncton’s strong appeal among renters. The appeal appears to be driven by affordability and availability in the city, along with expanding opportunities across Atlantic Canada.
Most of the interest in Moncton came from locals, but renters in Halifax, Montreal and Toronto also took a closer look.
The remaining cities in the top 10 were, in order: Regina, Winnipeg, Kingston, Ont., Edmonton, Saskatoon, Victoria, Calgary and Ottawa.
