The Greater Moncton Santa Claus parade attracts thousands of visitors to our city.
It’s planned for November 22 at 5 pm, beginning at the corner of Cameron and Main Streets in Moncton and ending at the corner of Champlain and Paul Street in Dieppe.
Last year, high winds and heavy rain forced the cancellation of the parade, with a stationary one held in the Moncton Coliseum instead.
Riverview Town Councillor Heath Johnson is a parade committee member. He says this year the parade committee has been proactive and has set a rain date, just in case.
“If the parade does not proceed on Saturday, November 22, it’ll be held the very next day, on Sunday, November 23, also at 5 pm,” Johnson says.
Currently, the Weather Network is calling for cool temps, light winds and a chance of light flurries for parade day.
This year’s theme for the Greater Moncton Santa Claus parade is the Festival of Lights.
If you’re heading downtown, don’t forget to bring along a few non-perishable items for the food bank. These may include: cereal, hot chocolate, diapers, baby formula, tea and coffee or peanut butter.
