A Moncton non-profit that supports unemployed individuals is receiving $146,000 in provincial funding for facility upgrades.
The funding, delivered through the Regional Development Corporation, will go toward improvements at l’Atelier Seconde Chance.
The organization offers employability and adaptability programs for people who are out of work.
Six MLAs from the Moncton region are also contributing $20,000 for equipment purchases.
The MLAs are Claire Johnson, Natasha Vautour, Robert Gauvin, Alexandre Cédric Doucet, Tania Sodhi and Rob Weir.
The money comes from their Community Investment Funds, which are administered through the Regional Development Corporation.
The program provides non-repayable contributions of up to $75,000 per provincial electoral district.
“This is an example of how we can work together regionally to support a very worthy organization,” Environment and Climate Change Minister Gilles LePage said, who is also minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation.
“The volunteers at l’Atelier Seconde Chance are doing an amazing job supporting youth at risk, and we are pleased to be able to support them.”
