Hampton to host first local game from Atlantic Roller Derby team

Hampton is getting the first local game from the Atlantic Roller Derby team.

The team formed in May 2024 with members from the Maritimes and New England, according to a news release.

They say their goal is to train hard and put on a fierce competition both nationally and internationally.

Their first sanctioned game through the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association was in Kitchener, Ontario, earlier this year. The sanctioned game was against Tri-City Lightning, and then they had two unsanctioned matches against the Peterborough Area Roller Derby and Tri-City Thunder.

And now they’re playing their first local game in the Maritimes to face Roller Derby Québec’s Équipe A.

The game starts at 1 p.m. at the Mike Murphy Memorial Field House on Saturday.
