Fire destroys Moncton home

A fire has destroyed a mobile home off Salisbury Road in Moncton.

Crews were called to the home on Arnold Avenue around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Platoon Chief Mike Lake with the Moncton Fire Department said they brought the blaze under control in about 30 to 40 minutes.

However, Lake said they had to bring in a backhoe to tear down the house due to the large fire load inside.

“Due to this fire load, we would have been unable to put all of the spot fires out,” said the platoon chief.

A total of 17 firefighters from the Moncton Fire Department responded to the scene.

Lake said no injuries were reported and investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
