5-vehicle crash on Mountain Road

A five-vehicle crash shut down part of Mountain Road on Wednesday afternoon.

The collision happened before 3 p.m. in the area of Mountain Road and Mapleton Road.

Moncton fire officials said it was reported that a vehicle was possibly passing others against traffic.

Platoon Chief Mike Lake said the vehicle hit three other cars before coming to rest against a Codiac Transpo bus.

Lake said paramedics assessed several people at the scene but no one was taken to the hospital.

RCMP first posted about the collision on social media shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday, warning drivers that the road was closed in the area.

A subsequent post at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday said the road had reopened.

No word yet if any charges will be laid. Codiac Regional RCMP did not immediately respond to our request for comment.
