18-storey building proposed for downtown Moncton

A public hearing for another proposed downtown Moncton high-rise will be held next month.

Director of Planning and Development Bill Budd says it’ll be located on Botsford at Victoria and Wesley Streets.

The site previously received approval from the Planning Committee in 2021 for a 12-storey residential building, but the site has since been sold to a new owner who has redesigned the site.

The new proposal calls for an 18-storey building with 181 residential units. It will also include commercial, retail, and restaurant space.

It will also include 136 parking spaces on various levels of the building.

The development will also incorporate 10 percent affordable housing units.

Budd adds if approved, Amico Construction hopes to start building as soon as possible.

City Councillors unanimously supported the rezoning application.

The public hearing is scheduled for February 20th.
