Vehicle hits mini-home, fire breaks out

Fire has caused severe damage to a vehicle and mini-home in Lakeville.

Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Paul Bruens says the fire was reported at around 12:30 am Wednesday.

A vehicle struck the front of the home and fire broke out.

“The firefighters did an incredible job containing the fire to the trailer and vehicle. They were able to keep it from spreading to other homes, but there is some heat damage to the other mini-homes,” Bruens says.

He adds the driver wasn’t there when emergency responders arrived.

Three residents and two dogs managed to escape without injury.

The Canadian Red Cross has been called in to assist the residents.

RCMP, Ambulance New Brunswick, and NB Power were also on the scene to assist.

An investigation is underway.
