Armed man arrested after Remembrance Day ceremony

Mounties say they arrested an armed man following a Remembrance Day ceremony in the community of Hartland.

Police say two officers leaving the ceremony saw a suspicious vehicle nearby believed to be connected to an unrelated file.

“When police approached the vehicle, the driver hopped out and fled on foot,” police said in a news release on Tuesday.

Sgt. Dan Sharpe and Const. Cassandra Duguay, still dressed in their ceremonial Red Serge, gave chase to the driver.

Police said they quickly arrested the man, who was found to be carrying a loaded firearm.

A 37-year-old man is due to appear in court in February.
