Anglophone East DEC stresses no Policy 713 changes

The Anglophone East District Education Council is standing tall on Policy 713.

Member Ian Hebblethwaite says they recently received a letter from Education Minister Bill Hogan regarding changes.

“We have no intentions of making any changes to our existing Policy around provincial 713. I would like to move that we ask staff to create a response to the Minister’s letter on our behalf stating that we will not be changing.”

The motion was seconded by member Kristin Cavoukian, and the Council voted unanimously in favour.

Last spring, the Minister introduced policy changes preventing teachers from informally using names or pronouns for those under 16 without parental consent.
