Man’s disappearance being treated as a homicide

The disappearance of a New Brunswick man more than a year ago is now being treated as a homicide.

Richard (Ricky) Matchett of Sunny Corner was last seen in nearby Sillikers on Aug. 9, 2022.

RCMP said the 58-year-old man was only reported missing on April 30, 2023.

Mounties determined throughout the investigation that his disappearance was suspicious.

As a result, the New Brunswick RCMP’s Major Crime Unit has since taken over the case.

Officers searched a home on Route 420 in Sillikers on Thursday as part of the investigation.

Investigators did not say if any arrests were made as a result of their search.

Anyone who may have information is asked to contact the Major Crime Unit at 1-888-506-RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
