Spruce Street home extensively damaged by fire, donations needed

Fire has extensively damaged a home in East Moncton.

Moncton firefighters could see heavy smoke as they approached the Spruce Street residence at around 1 am Monday.

Platoon Chief Paul Bruens says they aggressively attacked the flames and managed to get the fire under control within 30 minutes.

Two adults and a pet managed to get out safely.

Bruens adds the residents were alerted to the fire by a smoke detector.

No word on a cause yet.

A family member is currently looking for donations of clothing and shoes as everything was lost in the fire. If you have anything to donate, message Cyndi Melanson on Facebook to make arrangements for drop-off or pick-up.
