A ceremony will be held to commemorate the Battle of Britain and airforce efforts during the Second World War.

It has been organized by the City of Dieppe and Dieppe Military Veterans Association.

It’ll be held at J.-Laurie-Cormier Park on Sunday, September 15, beginning with a military parade at 1:30 pm.

The ceremony will be followed by a reception at the Dieppe Golden Age Club, located at 445 Acadie Avenue.

The Battle of Britain started in 1940 and involved the Royal Air Force, the Royal Canadian Air Force and aviators from several of the Allied powers.

In total, 112 Canadian soldiers took part, 23 of them lost their lives.

Three were awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for their efforts during the Battle.

The event will be held at the Dieppe Golden Age Club in case of rain.
