Two arrested after vehicle hits police car, firearm seized in Moncton

A man and a woman are facing charges after a dangerous driving incident in Moncton.

RCMP stopped a vehicle on St. George Boulevard for a traffic violation around noon on September 4.

After gathering the driver’s information, the man behind the wheel reversed into the police vehicle. Officers quickly immobilized the vehicle, and the driver tried to flee but was arrested.

A woman in the car also attempted to run but was stopped by a bystander and later arrested.

Officers found a sawed-off shotgun and ammunition in the vehicle.

A 24-year-old man from Richibouctou-Village and a 27-year-old woman from Bouctouche appeared in court and were charged with possessing a prohibited firearm.

The man remains in custody, while the woman was released with conditions.
