Actor James Earl Jones passes away at age 93

James Earl Jones, the legendary actor known for his remarkable contributions to film, television, and theatre, has died at the age of 93.

His representative confirmed on social media that he passed away on Monday morning at his home in Dutchess County, New York.

After conquering a challenging stutter during his childhood, the Mississippi native became a leading figure among Black actors of his generation, crafting a remarkable and multifaceted career that has lasted more than 60 years, winning countless awards.

Jones is most famously known for his voice acting contributions, especially as the iconic voice of Darth Vader in the Star Wars franchise from 1977 to 2022, and as Mufasa in The Lion King.

Jones is survived by a son from his second marriage.
